Our Story

Care that meets you where you are, and stays with you

CPC Clinics opened in Calgary in 2024, built on one conviction. Mental health care works best when it arrives on time and holds together. It should be built around the person, not around the system.

Who We Are

Life can feel heavy long before you decide to reach out. Anxiety, depression, relationship strain, trauma, or a hard transition can wear a person down. You may have been carrying it quietly for months.

Here you will find a space that feels safe, steady, and free of judgment. Our psychologists and therapists work with you using evidence-based care, at a pace you set. We meet you where you are, not where a treatment protocol says you should be.

We work with people of every age, background, and identity, across Calgary and Alberta. Care here is personalized and culturally sensitive, because those things change what good therapy looks like. Therapy here is about more than what hurts. It is also about building the life you want.

Where It Began

Zarrin Tasneem spent close to a decade inside the mental health system. Then she built one of her own. Here is how that happened.

01. Where she started.

Zarrin began as an Addictions Counsellor with the Saskatchewan Health Authority. She worked alongside people in detox, adult psychiatry, and child psychiatry.

02. Then Alberta.

She joined Alberta Health Services, first in Fort McMurray and later in Calgary.

03. Some of the hardest settings in public health.

In Calgary she worked at the Calgary Correctional Centre. She also worked in adult psychiatry at Foothills Medical Centre.

04. The same pattern, two provinces apart.

Services passed people with complex, overlapping needs from one door to the next. Some waited months for care they needed within days.

05. Private practice helped, but only in pieces.

Others found good care outside the public system, for one part of the picture. Assembling the rest fell to them.

06. So she built the alternative.

Complex needs call for a team working together in one place, over time. In 2024 she founded Canadian Psychological and Counselling Clinics, known to most people as CPC Clinics.

What Integrated
Care Means Here

Most mental health journeys do not follow a straight line. Someone who begins in counselling may need a formal assessment to understand what they are facing. Depression does not always respond fully to therapy or medication alone. A different kind of support may help. Here, those paths sit under one roof and inside one continuing relationship.

Counselling and psychotherapy

Individual, couples, and family therapy from registered psychologists, provisional psychologists, and clinical social workers. Specialties include anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, and relationship work.

Psychological and psychoeducational assessments

Clarity on learning, attention, mood, personality, and cognitive concerns. A diagnosis often opens doors at school, at work, or through your benefits.

rTMS therapy

Repetitive transcranial magnetic stimulation with the EXOMIND ExoRTMS system, non-invasive and medication-free. Available at our Calgary clinic, where your clinician will talk you through whether it fits.

Nobody here restarts their story with a new provider at every step. Your history moves with you. That continuity is a clinical advantage before it is anything else.

Understanding Our Clients

No two people arrive here for the same reason. Some come after years of putting it off, others the week something changes.

Who We Work With

  • Individuals working through anxiety, depression, trauma, or grief
  • Couples and families navigating conflict, distance, or a hard season
  • Youth, teens, and parents looking for steadier ground at home
  • Athletes and performers managing pressure, focus, and setbacks
  • Professionals carrying stress, burnout, or a career they have outgrown

What You Carry, and What We Work Toward

Self-doubt, and the weight of what others expect.

We work toward confidence that does not depend on approval.

Stress that does not switch off.

We build coping tools that hold under real pressure.

Fear of letting down the people who count on you.

We work on honest communication.

Difficulty staying regulated when things get hard.

We look for steadier ground and a routine that holds.

Caregiving while running low yourself.

We make room for you to be looked after too.

We see all of this. None of it is too small to bring in.

Where We Meet You

You can see us in person at our Calgary office or online across Alberta. Both use the same approach and the same care.

Our Values

01

Unwavering Integrity

We hold to professional and ethical standards in every file we open. The College of Alberta Psychologists regulates our psychologists. Our therapists answer to their own professional bodies. That accountability is what makes this a space you can trust.

02

Empathy First

We listen closely and without judgment, to the whole of what you bring. Not the summary, and not the version you think sounds reasonable. Being understood is where the work starts, and it is not a step we rush.

03

Honouring Your Strengths

You already carry more than you give yourself credit for. Most people arrive focused on what is going wrong. Part of our work is helping you notice what has been holding. From there we build on it together.

04

Purposeful Service

Every session has intention behind it. We are transparent about what we do and why, and clear about our boundaries. If something is outside our scope, we will tell you. We will also help you find the right place.

Your Healing Journey, Made Simple

Getting started should not be the hardest part of getting better. Here is exactly what happens after you reach out.

Personalized intake

Our intake coordinator calls, emails, or texts within 24 to 36 hours. They talk through your goals, then match you with a therapist.

First appointment

We book your first session within 24 to 48 hours. Your therapist starts by building a safe space and setting goals.

02.

Deep Exploration

You and your therapist explore emotions, patterns, and where they come from. That may involve CBT, mindfulness, or trauma-informed therapy, and you set the pace.

03.

Carrying It Forward

This stage moves the work from the room into your week. Your therapist helps you apply new coping skills so the support keeps holding.

The People
Behind the Care

Zarrin Tasneem, Registered Provisional Psychologist & Founder

A Note From Zarrin

I did not start CPC Clinics because I saw a business opportunity. I started it because I spent years watching people fall through the spaces between services. I knew what it would take to close those spaces.

Every decision we make here comes back to one question. What would this person need if the whole system were designed around them? That is the clinic we are building. I am grateful you are considering trusting us with your care.

Care Built Around You

We build your care plan around your goals, not a template. It changes as you do. We review it with you rather than deciding on your behalf.

Safe and Confidential

What you say here stays here, within professional and legal limits. We protect your privacy at every step, in person and online.

Partners, Not Just Clinicians

We are in this alongside you, not observing from across the room. You set the pace and we keep up.

Everything Under One Roof

Counselling, assessments, and rTMS sit inside the same practice. If your needs change, you do not start over somewhere new with a stranger.

Yes. You can meet your therapist online instead of coming to our Calgary office. Some of our psychologists also see clients virtually beyond Alberta.

Our intake coordinator matches you based on your goals, concerns, and preferences. If the fit is not right, tell us and we will change it. Nobody is expected to stay with a therapist who does not suit them.
