What Stephen Works With
Stephen holds 3 primary specialties. Each one runs on the same strength-based method.
Sports Psychology and Performance
Sport psychology work targets motivation, focus, confidence, and performance under pressure. Sessions suit competing athletes and high performers outside sport, such as executives, surgeons, and musicians. The same skills apply to a playoff game and a board presentation.
ADHD and Learning Disabilities
ADHD counselling builds routines, task initiation, and follow-through for neurodivergent adolescents and adults. Stephen provides the counselling. A colleague at CPC Clinics provides formal ADHD assessment, if you need a diagnosis first.
Anxiety, Depression and Life Transitions
This work covers anxiety, low mood, OCD, and identity shifts. Transitions include career change, injury, and retirement from sport. Stephen also supports people experiencing thoughts of suicide.
Call 911 or go to your nearest emergency department, if you are in immediate danger.
Stephen also provides family counselling, youth counselling, and men's mental health therapy. He supports parenting, infertility, and chronic illness and pain.

Workshops for Athletes, Teams, and Workplaces
Stephen runs 3 workshops through CPC Clinics, each for a group. Groups include sports teams, parent cohorts, and workplace staff.
- Mental Well-Being for Athletes and Teams. Covers pressure, focus, and team dynamics through a competitive season.
- Mindful Sport Parenting Workshop. Covers how parents support a young athlete without adding to the pressure.
- Mental Well-Being in the Workplace. Covers stress, workload, and burnout for staff and managers.
Stephen also delivers Executive Reset, the REVIVE program for working professionals.
Stephen May Be a Good Fit If
These are common reasons clients book with Stephen for therapy or a workshop.
See If Stephen Is Right for YouYou compete in sport and want to work on focus, confidence, or performance under pressure.
You have an ADHD diagnosis and want routines that hold up week to week.
You parent a neurodivergent teenager and want strategies that fit your household.
You face a career change, an injury, or retirement from sport.
You want a psychologist who works from your existing strengths.
You lead a team or workplace and want a group workshop.
How I Work
We choose the methods that fit your goals, then keep checking that the work is useful outside the therapy room.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT identifies the thoughts behind a reaction, then tests those thoughts against evidence.
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT builds the skill of acting on your values alongside difficult feelings.
Internal Family Systems (IFS)
IFS treats conflicting inner reactions as separate parts, then works with each part.
Existential and constructivist therapy
These approaches examine meaning, choice, and the story you tell about yourself.
Emotion-focused therapy
This locates the emotion underneath a stuck reaction and works on it directly.
Solution-Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT)
SFBT starts from what already works in your life, then extends it.
Confidential. Compassionate. Evidence-informed.
